Often, drink options and fluid intake are included in the nutritional section of a book, leaflet or website.
This area is so important to me and I feel to everyone that it is deserving of its own page! WATER!! Most of us DON'T DRINK ENOUGH! The debate rages as to how much water we require on a daily basis but I would recommend a minimum of 1.5 litres per day - thats a large sized mineral water bottle. For those of us that are more active or in summer months, I would suggest that amount to increase to 2 litres per day - Evians largest bottle is 2 litres by the way! The best way to start increasing water intake is to add a large glass at each meal and then to start slowly adding more throughout the day. Once you get into a routine,it is surprisingly easy to meet your minimum daily requirements! Water keeps your whole body hydrated - and will show in both how you feel (usually more alert, with more energy) and how you look (better hydrated,"plumper" skin). It can also help to control your appetite as often we mistake our thirst for hunger and therefore eat when not necessary! My personal daily intake is at least 3 litres per day! It sounds like a lot but I may be training up to three times daily and therefore my body simply seems to need that much pure water! Bottled water has become big business in the last few years and any visit to the supermarket will show you just how many options there are. Evian,Volvic and Vittel are some of the big players in the UK market together with an array of other brands! In my opinion, there is no major difference between the brands! My personal choice is a Brita Water Filter and standard tap water! Fortunately, water standards in the UK are still high and the Brita Filter takes many of the chemicals out of the water before I am ready to drink! I challenge you to test at least 1.5 litres of water per day for two weeks! Look out for the benefits and enjoy your new, healthier, better hydrated body!
